HUNTERSVILLE, NC – Hope House Foundation announced that it has been selected as one of the two non-profits to benefit from the proceeds of the inaugural Jetton Park Sprint Triathlon to be held on Saturday, May 9. The other non-profit is Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids. Both organizations provide services to children residing in the Lake Norman area.

The event was founded and organized by Jeff and Sheila Wakeman of Wakeman Charities, Inc. Staring at 8:00 a.m., the sprint triathlon will include a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride and a 5-kilometer run. Participation is limited to the first 500 entries. In addition to the triathlon, there will be food, prizes and a silent auction. Volunteers are still needed to help with the event and participants have until May 6 to register on-line. The website for the triathlon is www.jettontri.com.

Showcase sponsors of this inaugural event include Presbyterian Healthcare of Huntersville; Carolina Oral and Facial Surgery/Patrick Coleman, DMD; Scott P. Guice, DDS, PA; Aquesta Bank; Athleticore Coaching; Inside-Out Sports; Rubbermaid; Simonini Builders and The Spirited Cyclist Bike Shop. Volunteer, sponsor and silent auction donation opportunities are still available by calling (704) 661-0289.

Hope House Foundation’s Co-Founder and Board President, Dr. Lee Beth Lindquist, said, “This event is yet another example of how members of our community are supporting the Hope House. Through the generosity of Lake Norman residents like the Wakemans, the Hope House will soon be providing transitional housing and services to homeless women and children.”

Located at 15604 Northcross Drive in Huntersville, Hope House Foundation will provide transitional housing and services to an estimated 60 to 80 Lake Norman area homeless women and women with children on an annual basis. In addition, they will be provided with services such as computer training, parenting skills, money management, health care and resume writing in order for them to become self sufficient.
